I love, love her blog. Hence the reason I was thrilled when Alex Katzen said she could fit in an inspirational story this month in her busy schedule. Her blog, The Zen Kat, is an exquisite celebration of family, friends, food, travel and fitness while making room for desserts (and handstands.) More importantly, Alex has taught me a valuable lesson. It’s important to slow down in this crazy, fast-paced life to engage the senses, spread positivity or come out of a comfort zone. With Alex you never know where life will take you, from a bakery in NYC or the Dead Sea, but I can guarantee you will enjoy the journey.
When Charlotte asked me to write a post for her blog, I was beyond flattered. A post about being the Zen Kat. Who, little ole’ kooky me?
I’m a lifestyle blogger who’s always on the go, mentally and physically as a traveling yogi and writer.
Good question. My name is Alex Katzen- I took my last name, split it in half and switched it around. Inversions and switching it up seems to be my style. Not to mention, zen is quite trendy in the western world, and for good reason too.
You see, I’ve got a little secret…I haven’t always been that zen of a person. I’m still far from a pure positive ray of energy. If you meet me, you’ll find that I’m extremely high energy with a go- go-go lifestyle.
As time went on, I became more peaceful. Now, when people meet me, they sense my zen.
I’ve learned you can be whatever you wish if you believe it enough. By calling myself the Zen Kat, I let the power of mindset take full control.
So if you’re interested in becoming more Zen, here are my 4 tips:
1. Persevere through challenges- For me, it’s handstands
2. Embrace the new by understanding- I talk to everyone because we all have knowledge
3. Explore- Traveling is my favorite
4. Reflect- For me, it’s using my mental overdrive to my benefit during a workout
Like Charlotte, I aim to inspire others to connect with their inner-journey, whether that be through yoga or just walking. The medium is irrelevant so long as it works. Self-acceptance. Appreciation. Gratitude. Humility.
Cheers to you!
Thank-you Alex for inspiring us this month. If you want more zen, you can find that Kat right here.
